Japanese Book Donation Ceremony was held at the University of Chittagong

On Sunday, 7 November 2021, a book donation ceremony titled “Read Japan Project” took place at the Department of Political Science, University of Chittagong. The project was conducted by Nippon Foundation and the Japan Science Society (JSS).
The books donated to the Department of Political Science range from politics and international relations, economics and business, society to culture, literature, and history. The project aims to provide various selections of English books to educational and research institutions worldwide. Moreover, this scheme helps promote a better understanding of Japan and strengthen the interaction and educational exchanges between scholars from the region and beyond.
At the ceremony, Professor Dr. Shireen Akter, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Benu Kumar Dey, Pro-Vice-Chancellor and Professor Dr. Mustafizur Rahman Siddiqui, Chairman, Department of Political Science, and Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences from the University of Chittagong graced the ceremony; they expressed their appreciation for the generous donation and delivered speeches.
Ambassador ITO Naoki introduced the book donation project, reviewed the history of Japan-Bangladesh relations, and expressed his desire to strengthen further the relationship between the Embassy and the University of Chittagong in preparation for the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Bangladesh in 2022.
